Under Strategic Air Command (SAC), this unit operated B-52 bombers. Martin's duties, roles, and responsibilities as an ECM mechanic were maintaining the specialized radar-jamming, chaff-dispensing, and radio communications packed into the B-52, electronic warfare suites were crucial for blinding Soviet air defenses. Martin was discharged as E-4 crew chief Aug. Of 1963. Martin spoke proudly and passionately as it relates to his time in the service. He often described his experience as being most alarming as an active participant in Cuban missile crisis. It was the closest the United States came to engaged nuclear conflict.

Separate and apart from Martin’s military experiences, he also spoke fondly of time spent down the jersey shore specifically Ocean City. Martin’s parents William and Jessi owned a slice of heaven on beach block 4423 Asbury ave in Ocean City. Martin and his sisters enjoyed their childhood summers playing on the beach and soaking up the warm salt air. Martin enjoyed the simple things in life. He had a great appreciation for nature and the beautiful things in the world. He was smart, engaging, witty and thoughtful. He really made people feel comfortable in his presence. These are the qualities we will remember the most. Your impacts will follow all that love you. Martin is gone but never forgotten.
